Awakening the Evangelical Church to Domestic Abuse
When Tamar was raped, David took no action. When Dinah was raped, Jacob took no action. Both men reaped terrible consequences for their passivity. So-called Christian men who turn a blind eye to the epidemic of men abusing women will reap terrible consequences for their passivity.
The torture which Jesus suffered on the Cross must NOT be likened to sexual intercourse between man and woman. To draw that analogy will deeply traumatise victims of sexual and domestic abuse. Furthermore, drawing an analogy between the Cross and the marriage bed plays right into the agenda of abusive husbands.
