Awakening the Evangelical Church to Domestic Abuse
The torture which Jesus suffered on the Cross must NOT be likened to sexual intercourse between man and woman. To draw that analogy will deeply traumatise victims of sexual and domestic abuse. Furthermore, drawing an analogy between the Cross and the marriage bed plays right into the agenda of abusive husbands.
Some people teach that when an abuse victim is rebuking the abuser, the victim must do so in a way that shows evident love and respect for the abuser.
