Brent Detwiler exposed as a wolf

Brent Detwiler has been exposed as a predator and dropped from the We Stand with SGM Survivors Facebook Group.

Brent Detwiler, The Wolf Among The Sheep1

I have read the above article and I find it believable. I’m sharing the article for the sake of all the wounded and deceived sheep.

I encourage you to read the article for yourself.

UPDATE (added November 30, 2024) Tim Meshginpoosh has written a very good article about Brent Detwiler’s fall from grace:
Brent Detwiler, Sovereign Grace Culture, and the Latest Scandal: A Rational Assessment, with some Image Repair Analysis2

(The italics were in Barb’s post.)

I, too, have read the entire post and find it believable. 😢

One of the things I would have done if I’d written the linked post, Brent Detwiler: The Wolf Amongst the Sheep — and I’m not criticizing the writer of the post. 😊 — would be to move the following paragraphs to the beginning of the post:

In the name of neutrality and further disclosure, I want to share a little about my siblings and I, pertaining to the marriage. As the children, we have been frustrated with both of our parents in different seasons. Our thoughts and feelings are no secret to either one and with love comes honesty and a familial bluntness; unfiltered and candid opinions are shared openly, sometimes in the context of vented expression.

We aren’t therapists or relationship gurus, just kids. And we can be critical, and at times, accusatory, placing blame in one direction or another when on the receiving end of dysfunctional details. The truth is that families can be both sacred and sloppy; they are not always polite, but they should always be fiercely strong in the conviction of resolve. I can speak for my siblings and I when I say, we remain resolute and well intentioned.

Given that Brent Detwiler was a pastor, this is a classic case of — amongst other things — spiritual abuse.

      That.

And one of the many things I liked about Tim Meshginpoosh’s excellent post is the following disclosure:

      Fair Disclosures

      ● Brent Detwiler graduated from the same high school as I did. He was ten years before me, though.

      ● I was Southern Baptist for over 30 years, at least half of that in NeoCalvinist circles.

      ● My previous church was very adjacent to Sovereign Grace: they used SGM music extensively during worship, and even recommended materials by C.J. Mahaney for discipleship.

All that to say, I know the culture well. And as I develop my thoughts here, you will understand why I am making that disclosure.

      1. Adding on to my comment of 3rd December 2024….

There are additional posts exposing more information about Brent Detwiler on — and by — the same author as the post, Brent Detwiler, The Wolf Among The Sheep (Barb linked to it in her original post). I’ve not read the newer posts, but based on some of the author’s comments written on Tim Meshginpoosh’s post, Brent Detwiler, Sovereign Grace Culture, and the Latest Scandal: A Rational Assessment, with some Image Repair Analysis, I believe those posts as well.

There are MANY new comments on Tim Meshginpoosh’s post, Brent Detwiler, Sovereign Grace Culture, and the Latest Scandal: A Rational Assessment, with some Image Repair Analysis….I’ve not finished reading them — as I was reading, more new comments were being posted. 😊 And some of them contain the usual “Christian” and “Christian” church “response” (libel, slander, “mental health issues”, “possessed by the devil”, etc.).

My apologies to you, Barb….I’m going to copy-and-paste two of the earlier comments from Tim Meshginpoosh’s post, Brent Detwiler, Sovereign Grace Culture, and the Latest Scandal: A Rational Assessment, with some Image Repair Analysis, because they expose more of Brent Detwiler’s character (or lack thereof) and more about the author of the post, Brent Detwiler, The Wolf Among The Sheep. I’ll be making each of them into a comment on its own, as both of the comments are long….and Brent Detwiler’s comment, I’m going to add paragraph breaks to ensure the reader can read his comment more easily.

      2. Hi Finding Answers, I replied to your comment and then changed my mind, so I’ve deleted my reply.

Can you please not copy and paste at my blog any comments by Brent Detwiler which Brent has put at Tim Meshginpoosh’s post. I’d rather the argey-bargey stayed over at Tim’s blog. People who want to read it can go to Tim’s blog and read it all there. Hope you understand, and sorry for not thinking this through carefully when I first replied to your comment.

      3. Hi Finding Answers,

At your request, I’ve deleted your second comment (the copy of the one by the author of the post, Brent Detwiler, The Wolf Among The Sheep). You asked that I delete it after you read Barb’s comment:

I know you understand Barb’s reason, or you wouldn’t have made your request. 😊 😊 😊
