Announcing a new author on this blog: A Prodigal Daughter Returns
UPDATE Sept 2021: I have come to believe that Jeff Crippen does not practise what he preaches. He vilely persecuted an abuse victim and spiritually abused many other people in the Tillamook congregation. Go here to read the evidence. Jeff has not gone to the people that he spiritually and emotionally abused. He has not apologised to them, let alone asked for their forgiveness.
Jeff Crippen and myself (Barb Roberts) are very pleased to announce that A Prodigal Daughter has kindly accepted our invitation to join the ACFJ team. Many of you who have followed the blog for awhile will recognize A Prodigal Daughter Returns as she has been a faithful commenter at ACFJ for some time now.
We have put Prodigal Daughter’s BIO and contact information on the About Us page, but we also wanted to put it here and give her an official welcome. So, A Prodigal Daughter Returns – Welcome!
A Prodigal Daughter Returns (author) grew up in an abusive home hidden behind a veneer of religion. As a person with a non-verbal learning disability she experienced a great deal of bullying both at home and in school. Marrying young to an abuser she stayed for almost two decades while the patriarchal churches she was a part of aided and abetted the abuser with their toxic interpretation of the bible. When her husband left to pursue another relationship, Prodigal Daughter got a job in another town and started back to college. In school her professor initiated a relationship. She quickly remarried and stayed in an extremely violent and mentally abusive marriage for many years. She escaped dramatically in the middle of the night with a few possessions in a garbage bag, went into hiding and has spent a number of years recovering from the abuse. She went back to college as an older adult, got a degree and worked in the mental health field. She retired for health reasons caused by the abuse and devotes her time to prayer and writing. She has grown children and grandchildren; relationships which God is healing and restoring.
