Announcing a new author on this blog: A Prodigal Daughter Returns
UPDATE Sept 2021: I have come to believe that Jeff Crippen does not practise what he preaches. He vilely persecuted an abuse victim and spiritually abused many other people in the Tillamook congregation. Go here to read the evidence. Jeff has not gone to the people that he spiritually and emotionally abused. He has not apologised to them, let alone asked for their forgiveness.

Jeff Crippen and myself (Barb Roberts) are very pleased to announce that A Prodigal Daughter has kindly accepted our invitation to join the ACFJ team. Many of you who have followed the blog for awhile will recognize A Prodigal Daughter Returns as she has been a faithful commenter at ACFJ for some time now.
We have put Prodigal Daughter’s BIO and contact information on the About Us page, but we also wanted to put it here and give her an official welcome. So, A Prodigal Daughter Returns – Welcome!

A Prodigal Daughter Returns (author) grew up in an abusive home hidden behind a veneer of religion. As a person with a non-verbal learning disability she experienced a great deal of bullying both at home and in school. Marrying young to an abuser she stayed for almost two decades while the patriarchal churches she was a part of aided and abetted the abuser with their toxic interpretation of the bible. When her husband left to pursue another relationship, Prodigal Daughter got a job in another town and started back to college. In school her professor initiated a relationship. She quickly remarried and stayed in an extremely violent and mentally abusive marriage for many years. She escaped dramatically in the middle of the night with a few possessions in a garbage bag, went into hiding and has spent a number of years recovering from the abuse. She went back to college as an older adult, got a degree and worked in the mental health field. She retired for health reasons caused by the abuse and devotes her time to prayer and writing. She has grown children and grandchildren; relationships which God is healing and restoring.

Welcome and thank you for joining.
Welcome A Prodigal Daughter to ACFJ. Your comments always stood out to me as someone who has “been there” in the deep pit of cruel abuse. May your work here on this site help you to continue to heal and to praise God that while your suffering at the hands of abusers was intended for evil, God will use it for good in your life and to help others as we pilgrimage together on this difficult road to recovery and a newfound wisdom. God bless you abundantly.
Thank you so much, yes, God intended to bring good! A heard a comment the other day, “God turns your trial into a testimony”. I love that about His power to redeem, the darkest shame and pain of our lives can be turned into a song about His deliverance and healing and be used to announce freedom to other captives! Thank you for this prayer for me!
Yay! I love her! A Prodigal Daughter Returns has so much insight and wisdom.
Wow, APDR, that’s quite some testimony you have. May God bless the gifts He has given you through the years that the locusts have eaten and multiply the returns many-fold.
((hugs))
Hello Prodigal Daughter Returns, I love to read your contributions. They have always been a blessing to me and many others I’m sure too. I am looking forward to reading your articles with ACFJ 🙂 God bless!
Thank you, all! I am deeply honored to be included in this ministry. I appreciate the welcome of the staff and the readers. I write prayerfully and lift up in prayer the readers here that they will experience the truth that sets free and a joy that heals their deepest wounds. My presence here is a testimony in my life that God uses that which the world calls small and broken. He uses our trial to become our testimony of His redeeming power. He sets His love on the forlorn and lifts them up from the ashes but puts a crown of beauty on their heads. That is the other part of my story of recovering from a world that held so much abuse for me. Where sin abounded, grace much more abounded, but to experience that grace I needed to run to the throne of grace.
I remain amazed at how we truly can find purpose from our pain!
AMEN.
a prodigal daughter returns — I am grateful that God preserved you for such a time as this. Although, I ache at the pain you have endured, I will pray that the Lord continues to sustain and bring healing into your life as you encourage others via ACFJ. ((hugs))
I am at the beginning of my journey to freedom from abuse and have gained a lot of hope when reading A Prodigal Daughter’s comments on this blog. Her insights have at times profoundly touched my heart and strengthened my resolve that I am on the right path … God’s path. There are times that my faith wavers, times that I am unsure if I will make it through with my sanity in tact, times where even the knowing in my head that rejecting the abuse is following God’s Word … sometimes it’s not always that easy in the heart, sometimes it’s difficult to shed decades of the typical messages given to women from the ‘c’hristian community. So when I read APDR’s comments, it gives me hope and resolve to stay the course. To experience such a strength in faith, so much confidence in God’s Word from someone who has experienced so much abuse is an inspiration and reminder of God’s love.
I am thankful to know that you will be joining the acfj team a prodical daughter.
Your contributions have strengthened my resolve to continue the course, and not look back. May God bless you as you continue the good fight of faith with the acfj team.
A Prodigal Daughter Returns being added to the fold is welcome news!!!! May God continue to give you strength and wisdom in this new part of your life. It broke my heart to read of how much pain you have already suffered at the hands of your numerous abusers. The Lord has comforted me this week with the precious words of Psalm 75. It seems like the world gets darker and darker but it is good to know that He holds the cup of vengeance. Spurgeon says that Christ offers an invitation to a love feast but if they refuse the offer of love and forgiveness then full justice awaits them. God bless you in this new adventure!
A Prodigal Daughter, welcome. I myself am learning to unravel the pain and confusion caused by abuse from a Christian parent and how the abuse has affected my concept of God. Bless you for being on here. I believe your insights will be very helpful to us
A Prodigal Daughter Returns, thank you for your comforting and insightful posts I always liked to read! God bless your commitment to this exceptional ministry, which is my oasis on the blogosphere.
