Updated! “If thou hatest her, put her away, and give her a clothing for the scorn” – Malachi 2:16 in the Matthew Bible

The Matthew Bible’s translation of Malachi 2:16 honours the dignity of an abused wife and protects her safety. It restrains a hard-hearted man from endlessly exploiting and abusing his wife, having chained her to him in wedlock. It also restrains men from callously impoverishing and maligning their ex-wives.

It validates the desire for justice and dignity which all abused wives experience.
