Breaking news: Doug Phillips’ victim files lawsuit against Phillips and Vision Forum.

Lourdes Torres, Alleged Victim in the Doug Phillips (Vision Forum) Sex Abuse Scandals Files Lawsuit

This has just been published at Spiritual Sounding Board, Julie Anne Smith’s blog.

It will be of interest to any readers who:

  • are victims of spiritual and / or sexual abuse — it will encourage you to see how a victim has had the courage to seek secular justice against her abuser,
  • have been affected by Doug Phillips and Vision Forum,
  • have been affected by other Patriarchal and Quiverfull cults in Christendom.

My opinion: Lourdes Torres — now Lourdes Torres-Manteufel: she has just got married —  is A VERY BRAVE LADY. :)

Go Lourdes!

(We are publishing this as an extra post today because it is such big news, and because we want to encourage Lourdes as much as possible.)

  1. Indeed — bravo for her!
We should all keep her in prayer as I suspect the road will be very difficult based on what I have read about Doug Phillips and the arsenal he uses.

  2. Is it wrong to seek secular justice for defamation of character and slander against a pastor and church Elder board if the truth fits that situation or should the victim walk away. There is no justice in the church and they turn against her and her name.

    1. Hi, EverydayBRAVE, I don’t think it’s wrong to seek secular justice in that kind of situation. But it may be quite a battle in the court, so I suggest you get legal advice about the prospects of such a case being successful.

Should the victim just walk away? In our view, there is no hard and fast rule for that. Each victim is free to make his or her own decision.
