Child custody battles — links that might be helpful for protective parents

Update added March, 2025. Lundy Bancroft has now been exposed as a predator. All links that went to Lundy Bancroft’s material have been removed. [End of March, 2025 update.]

When an abuser attempts to get custody of the children, it can lead to the most agonizing situations. These links might be helpful for those facing this nightmare.

Please note that apart from Lundy’s work, I don’t have enough knowledge of any of these organizations to recommend or endorse their work. So please use this merely as a springboard to do your own research — test all things!

Note: When researching the issue of child custody justice, you may get the impression that there is disharmony between the advocates. I have not had the time to drill down into it all, but here is a post by Lundy Bancroft that you might find relevant: Defending A Women’s Rights Activist Who Is Under Attack.

  1. This is my area of greatest interest and passion. I have additional links and resources which I will be sharing at training for clergy this Thursday in Oregon in a workshop about “Women Who Leave Abuse” – please let’s be in touch!

  2. Thanks to a special friend for referring me to this site!

I created a blog to tell the story of how I escaped an abusive relationship with two children. This man attacked me and then threw the kids & on the street to be homeless. I lost custody of my beautiful children to an alleged abuser and wanted fugitive with 12+ allegations of abuse against him. How could this happen in a “court of law”?

I just want other mother’s going through this nightmare to know that you are not alone.

The court system is broken, corrupt and has failed to protect those who need it most–it is in desperate need of reform. The lives of women and children are being endangered by unjust decisions, and families torn apart by the legal corruption. Children are being forced to live in unsafe situations, their cries for help ignored. There needs to be more awareness of family court injustice so the abuses of power are revealed, and we can demand change–and hold the corrupt officers of the court accountable.

Isaiah 49:25, “…For I will contend with those who contend with you, and I will save your children.”

    1. M21, I have heard many stories like yours that confirm what you say here:

The injustice is mind boggling — but those words cannot capture it… I just have no words for how bad it is in the US courts system. Not that every protective parent is being treated unjustly, not that every child is being sent into the care of an abuser, but there are way too many cases where this is happening.

    2. Hi M21, welcome to the blog. :)

Yes, the courts must often getting it very very wrong — we hear so many stories of injustice from the courts when it comes to domestic abuse and the protection of children.

  3. Thank you for all that info, Janice. Nice to connect with you. You might like to let you network know about our blog. Even if protective mothers are not Christian, they may still find some good stuff here, such as our Resources pages.

  5. We have just discovered the blog Finding A Healing Place
It is written by a woman who was married to a pedophile for 40 years. She is a Christian and is now trying to raising awareness of this issue. We are putting her blog on our blogroll and our Resources pages because we know there is an overlap between pedophilia and domestic abuse (i.e. some perpetrators engage in both spousal abuse and child sexual abuse).
