Gift books for cash-strapped victims of domestic abuse: Why Does He Do That, and Not Under Bondage

Update 2: November, 2021: We used to offer certain books as gifts to cash-strapped survivors. Unfortunately, we can no longer do this. The reason is that Amazon has made it impossible for Barb (in Australia) to buy a book and get Amazon to ship it to another country.

The post below has been left intact for historical purposes only.

A supporter of victims of domestic abuse who follows this blog has kindly donated some money to help cash-strapped victims get Lundy Bancroft’s book Why Does He DO That?: Inside the Minds of Angry and Controlling Men.

Update added March, 2025. Lundy Bancroft has now been exposed as a predator. Any red lettering in the post is part of this update. [End of March, 2025 update.]

Also, this is a good time to remind readers that if a victim cannot afford it, I’m happy to gift my book to her — Not Under Bondage: Biblical Divorce for Abuse, Adultery and Desertion.

This offer is only for those who do not use Kindle. I (Barbara Roberts) cannot include Kindle versions in this offer because Amazon does not allow me to purchase a Kindle book for anyone other than myself. If you use Kindle, I am asking you purchase the book yourself as the price of a Kindle version is far cheaper than a paperback version. At present, my book Not Under Bondage is not available in any e-versions.

If you are a victim of abuse who does not use Kindle, and you want but can’t afford to purchase either or both of these books, please email Barbara at barbara@notunderbondage.com

In the email, indicate:

  • which title(s) you want,
  • a safe shipping address — some victims don’t want it shipped to their home address if they are still living with an abuser,
  • and the name of the person you want the parcel addressed to.

Barbara will treat these details with the utmost confidentiality.

We are very grateful for this supporter’s generosity. May she be blessed!

***IMPORTANT NOTE: While we endorse used to endorse Lundy’s writings about the dynamics of domestic abuse, we do not recommend anyone attend the “healing retreats” Lundy Bancroft offers or become involved in his “Peak Living Network”. See our post, ACFJ Does Not Recommend Lundy Bancroft’s Retreats or His New Peak Living Network for more about our concerns.

Update: We would like to again thank our donors for their generosity. If you would like to contribute to the gift book fund, payments can be made through our PayPal account at:  twbtc.acfj@gmail.com. 1. I love the book ministry! What a wonderful resource! Are the books available to women in the U.S.? If so, I can post this message. Many thanks.

  2. This is answer to prayer! God bless the heart of this lady. I cannot afford buying new books and it would be wonderful to get my own paper copy of Lundy’s book (rather than an illegal pdf). I will contact TWBTC.
Again I am so thankful to you Barbara for sending me last year a copy of Jeff’s first book and copies of yours. They have been so helpful!

      1. I’m not a worker: I’m sorry you misunderstood the comment, they are very generous….and I was saying how grateful I was to have read Lundy’s book. Literature is important to us as we heal, I know many women in this situation in the church…I once attended: all with huge families.
