Ps. 37:32  The wicked watches for the righteous and seeks to put him to death.

Mt. 27:66 So they (the Jewish authorities) went, and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone and setting a guard.
Jesus had finally ‘escaped’ the abuse, albeit by death, but his abusers still kept him under surveillance. In a similar way, many a victims who has escaped her abuser still finds that he is keeping her under surveillance.

John 11:53,57  So from that day on they made plans to put him to death. …Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where he was, he should let them know, so that they might arrest him.
Deliberate planning and scheming to cause this death.
The use of spies (in domestic abuse, children are sometimes used as spies post-separation). Also 12:10-11.
